Week 1: Game Design & Cultural Exploration

June 3rd-June 7th

Ages 8-10 

  • Embark on a journey through game design, integrating SAM Labs for an enriching hands-on experience.
  • Campers will create games that reflect cultural narratives and histories, learning the basics of coding and logic. 
  • Maker projects will involve using SAM Labs to add physical interactions to their games, enhancing the gaming experience.

Week 2-Mobile App Design with an ATL Twist

June 10th-June 14th

Ages 8-10

  • This week, young innovators will dive into mobile app development with a focus on metro Atlanta culture & history
  •  Utilizing SAM Labs, campers will create real-world solutions to issues in DeKalb County and beyond, by creating prototypes to solve community problems or celebrate cultural heritage.
  •  Maker projects will provide a foundation in design thinking and basic programming.

Week 3-Physical Computing & Interactive Art

June 17th-June 21st

Ages 11-14 

  • Explore the intersection of art, culture, and technology through physical computing with SAM Labs. 
  • Campers will create interactive art projects that respond to environmental inputs, learning about electronics, coding, and the engineering process.
  •  Maker projects will encourage creativity and innovation, using technology to express cultural stories and perspectives.

Week 4: Music Production with EarSketch

June 24th-June 28th

Ages 11-14 

  • Delve into the world of music production using EarSketch. 
  • Campers will learn to code their own music, blending beats, loops, and their own creations to produce unique tracks that reflect their cultural backgrounds. 
  • SAM Labs will be integrated to add physical elements to their music projects, such as creating interactive musical instruments or controllers.
