Yes, a bright light is shining at the end of the ELECTRONICS SORTING tunnel! The end is near! Can I get a HALLELUJAH! Amen!
Saturday, April 2nd is electronics recycling day in DeKalb County so it seems to be a perfect target to aim for in order to get this business finished up and move on to the next project.
Phase I of the sorting (going through everything, tossing the junk, consolidating and identifying what we have) is essentially finished.
Phase II, which consists of selecting the items we will keep, bagging the items we will sell and identifying what will be given away, will hopefully be done by/on this coming Wednesday.
The plan is this:
1. Identify what we want for the space and sort it into the parts bins in the eshop.
2. Make surplus items available to the members for them to pick from.
3. Have a sale ("Bob's Basement Sale") open to the public of the remaining items (that are salable).
4. Recycle the remainder.
All proceeds of the sale will be returned to Bob's widow Carol who so generously thought of us with these gifts.
The tentative date for the sale is Saturday, March 26th from noon to 3pm. We will be inviting our local maker space friends over along with anyone else who may be interested.
So this coming Wednesday, and probably at various times TBD before then, we will be going through the previously sorted items and selecting what to keep, what to sell and what to give away (because no one in their right minds would pay good money for it...).
After that, whatever items have not been designated as "for the space" will be made available to members first for a week or so; anything remaining will be sold or given to the public.
If anyone has a large collection of baggies (quart and gallon) to donate to the cause, please let me know, otherwise I'll head over to the Dollar Store and load up.
We will also be going through the PC's, microwaves etc. to determine what to keep, what to recycle. More on that in a separate topic.
