Hi guys,

I am working on searching for HzRG with The MeerKAT Galaxy Cluster Legacy Survey (MGCLS) and one of the steps is to crossmatch the MGCLS source catalog data with DECaLS DR10 source catalog.
I was wondering if there is a simple way to download  DECaLS DR10 source catalog in the specific sky region covered by the MGCLS survey (https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/full_html/2022/01/aa41488-21/aa41488-21.html).

Cheers,
Vasco

Hi,

Looks like you have 115 2x2-degree patches, is that right?  One option would be to grab the "sweeps" files -- which contain all the LS-DR10 sources in an RA,Dec rectangle -- from here,
where the filenames give you the low and high RA,Dec ranges (RRR[pm]DDD).

Another option would be to use the NOIRLab DataLab interface (https://datalab.noirlab.edu/)
which gives you either database (SQL)-style queries, or a Jupyter interface; they have the full DR10 catalogs, under the "Legacy Surveys" name; ls_dr10.tractor is the database table name for the catalogs.

cheers,
dustin

Hi Dustin,

I hope this email finds you well.

What is the systematic optical position uncertainty in both R.A. and Dec for the DECaLS catalogue please?

Regards,
Vasco

Hi,

I don't think we have measured that very carefully.  When we measure individual images, it is about 20 milli-arcseconds, but in the catalogs where we are measuring from many images (usually 10+), it's probably lower.

cheers,
dustin

Thank you for the answer. That's the same value I got...
