นักเรียนเก่ารุ่น 2472 รุ่นที่มีรมต.มากที่สุดของชาวเทพศิรินทร์ เสียดายท่านอายุเกือบ100 ปี เป็นคนที่ชาวจุฬาฯ

ร้อยเอก ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.บุญรอด บิณฑสันต์ อดีตรัฐมนตรีว่าการทบวงมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐคนแรกของประเทศไทย อดีตรัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงพัฒนาการแห่งชาติ และอดีตเลขาธิการสำนักงานพลังงานแห่งชาติ ปัจจุบันเป็นประธานมูลนิธินิสิตเก่าจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย

บุญรอด บิณฑสันต์ เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 18 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2458^[1] จบการศึกษาชั้นมัธยมจากโรงเรียนเทพศิรินทร์ ระดับปริญญาตรี สาขาวิศวกรรมไฟฟ้า (เกียรตินิยมอันดับ 1) จากจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในปี พ.ศ. 2476 ระดับปริญญาโท สาขาไฟฟ้ากำลัง จากสถาบันเทคโนโลยีแมสซาชูเซตส์ ในปี พ.ศ. 2481 ต่อมาได้เข้าศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาเอกที่มหาวิทยาลัยวิสคอนซิน แมดิสัน แต่เกิดสงครามโลก ครั้งที่ 2 ได้ไปเข้าร่วมกับกลุ่มเสรีไทยในประเทศจีน อินเดีย และศรีลังกา ทำให้ได้รับยศทหาร "ร้อยเอก" ในเวลาต่อมา และในปี พ.ศ. 2489 ได้กลับเข้าศึกษาในระดับปริญญาเอก ที่มหาวิทยาลัยฮาร์วาร์ด ในสาขาวิชาไฟฟ้าพลังน้ำ

บุญรอด บิณฑสันต์ ได้รับปริญญาวิศวกรรมศาสตรดุษฎีบัณฑิตกิตติมศักดิ์จากจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2509^[2] และดำรงตำแหน่งนายกสภามหาวิทยาลัยยาวนานถึง 20 ปี (พ.ศ. 2518-2538) ^[3]

[แก้] การทำงาน

บุญรอด บิณฑสันต์ เริ่มรับราชการเป็นอาจารย์ประจำคณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย เมื่อวันที่ 17 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2477 เป็นอาจารย์ที่มีอายุเพียง 18 ปี^[4] ต่อมาเมื่อได้มีการจัดตั้งสำนักงานพลังงานแห่งชาติขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2496 จึงได้ดำรงตำแหน่งเลขาธิการสำนักงานพลังงานแห่งชาติ จนกระทั่งได้รับโปรดเกล้าฯ แต่งตั้งเป็นปลัดกระทรวงพัฒนาการแห่งชาติ และได้เป็นสมาชิกวุฒิสภา ในปี พ.ศ. 2511

ต่อจากนั้นในปี พ.ศ. 2512 ได้รับแต่งตั้งเป็นรัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงพัฒนาการแห่งชาติ และในปี พ.ศ. 2516 เป็นรัฐมนตรีว่าการทบวงมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐคนแรกของไทย และตำแหน่งต่อมาคือ ผู้ว่าการการประปานครหลวง
