Package: hotplug
Version: 0.0.20010424-3

Hi,
I have an USB ADSL Modem, and when upgrading the hotplug package, I noticed
that the upgrade stalled while shutting down the hotplug service (presumably
while processing /etc/hotplug/usb.rc), as the PPP daemon was using a usb
device. Stopping the PPP process allowed the upgrade to continue.
Would it be possible to confirm with the user that it is safe to stop the
hotplug service, or allow them to restart later, as the pcmcia-cs package
does on upgrade?

I am running Debian unstable, kernel 2.4.4, and the USB driver is for the
Alcatel speedtouch modem (Version 2.4.1). The ppp daemon is a patched 2.4.0b2
(patched to support PPP over ATM).
