hello!
I've used potato and it worked well. But than I decided to upgrade to
sid and I have an unsolvable (at least for me) problem. I will not
write complete info about versions of the libraries and programs
installed on my computer, because the error stays the same during last 2
months -- I upgrade sid almost every week by running apt-get update,
apt-get dist-upgrade.
I've set czech keybindings for console and for X. The console works
well, but some X-applications don't work:
Some programs (StarOffice, Mozilla M18-3, XEmacs 21) type correctly all
characters, but the other -- some of them are very common
(gnome-terminal, gvim, netscape, xterm (!!)) -- write only some of them.
Iso-Latin-2 character are typen correctly (&scaron in HTML), but the
characters that are included in Iso-Latin-1 charset too (á) cannot
be typen -- nothing appears. and the gnome-terminal's behaviour is much
more amazing: the first instance types the latin-2 characters only,
when I create new terminal (from menu), it types only latin-1
characters, but when I switch the windows somewhere else and back,
latin-2 character are typed only again in booth instances. What does it
mean?
I've carefully checked /etc/inputrc, LC_CTYPE environment variable,
/etc/X11/XF86Config, /etc/profile, ~/.bashrc,...
The error occured in XFree4 at first, but now XFree3 doesn't work too.
Thanx a lot, greetings

It sounds like your environment is properly localized.
You probably need to install the following packages:
xfonts-75dpi-transcoded
xfonts-100dpi-transcoded
xfonts-base-transcoded
Only UTF-8 and ISO 8859-1 versions of the fonts in these packages are in
the non-"-transcoded" package names.
