Package: imagemagick
Version: 3:5.3.7-4
Severity: critical

To reproduce this bug: go (cd) to a directory with lots (>100) of
images and try to view them all with "display * &" and pressing the space
bar reapeatedly to cycle through all of them. Now watch the memory
footprint of "display" growing rapidly.

Last time my whole system crashed (hang) because the memory (256MB) and
swap space (128MB) were both exhausted. I thought Linux should be able to
recover from that, but after about 10 minutes I pressed the reset button
and watched the fsck fun. :-(

I chose the critical severity because of that. Please readjust if you
disagree.

The images were all JPEG compressed, about 50-120 kB big and most of them
sized 642 x 482.

Thanks,

- Stephan.
