Hello Debezium experts,

We are exploring options to capture the changes from Azure cosmosdb (documents.azure.com) using Debezium. Seen some discussions that mongodb connector could be used to pull data from cosmosdb but found issues like https://issues.redhat.com/browse/DBZ-5417 that it may not be supported completely.

Before diving into opening up the azure network for our EKS and start writing connectors, we would like to confirm with the experts if it is even supported to use debezium for Azure cosmosdb(*.documents.azure.com). If not supported, what are the other options available?

Thanks in advance.

Hi -

I would suggest seeing where the current gaps are between CosmosDB and the MongoDB connector, and evaluate whether the effort to adapt the MongoDB connector for CosmosDB is possible or if a completely standalone connector makes more sense. In either case, this is not an issue the core team is actively working on, so if you have the bandwidth to investigate and perhaps submit a PR, we'd welcome it.

Thanks Chris for your prompt response. We will explore the other available options instead of just relying on debezium connectors.
