Debezium JMX Streaming Metrics

We currently use flush lag and replication slot data from the database side to monitor our connector. We're moving to a 3rd party vendor that will make collecting these metrics more expensive. Looking at these jmx metrics, it seems like Connected could be a good placement for replication slot status. But there isn't a good drop in replacement for flush lag. Does this seem right? Do you have any other suggestions for monitoring connectors?
