Finis Foster Collins (generally called F.F. Collins), born and raised in Rusk County, Texas, manufactured and marketed windmills and pumps that were essential to ranchers and farmers in the late 19th century. Collins settled in San Antonio and purchased a 140-acre farm southwest of the city. He built an imposing home and later divided the land into irrigated truck farms that he marketed as "Collins Gardens."

In December 1984, the Collins Garden Branch Library, located at the east end of the park on Nogalitos Street, was dedicated and opened to the public. The library was renovated with funds from the 1989 bond election and was rededicated in 1996. A granite gravel walking trail and drinking fountain were funded through the 1994 bond election and were completed in 2000.

Went for a bday celebration and this place is definitely a nice location, the staff was super professional and explained everything. Food was good, drinks was strong just how I like it. The music was good, the whole assemble and atmosphere was great and I will definitely be back.

This was a great experience! The ambiance was amazing! It was a great experience from the time we got there until the moment that we left. The food, music, drinks and customer service was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place for a girl's brunch, baby shower, a date...anything!

Great decor, stellar service, delectable tasting food, bottomless mimosas, all for 1 great price. Oh I failed to mention the dope band that was featured. This place was so special to me, I proposed to my now, fiance, here!! This is one for the books if you haven't been you are missing out!

The vibe here is unmatched! This is my second Sunday brunch here and I can't wait to come back! The food is excellent and I love the table side service rather than a buffet where people are reaching over all of the food....great idea! The band is phenomenal! Just a great spot all the way around!

Located in Ballard on Puget Sound, this popular park offers extraordinary views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. This park features two wetlands, a short loop trail, and restored the northern beach. Golden Gardens offers strolls along a rugged coastline, hikes through forest trails, sunbathing on sandy beaches, fishing from a pier and a boat launch consisting of 300' of shoreline at south end of park. The park is also home to an off-leash area for dogs in the upper northern portion of the park. Dogs are not allowed on beaches, or children's play areas in Seattle parks, per the Seattle Municipal Code.

The park was named by and developed by Harry W. Treat in 1907 as an "attraction" at the end of the new electric car lines being built by realtors to induce townfolk to take a "Sunday outing" out of town and through the woods to a picnic or swim at a beach. (Along the way they were made aware of the real estate available!) The Carbine ended at Loyal Way (& 85th) with a steep twisting dusty path down into the park - or those owning a "tin lizzie" could drive down a dusty county road (approximately the present drive entering the upper park from the north) and down to a small parking area on the east side of the railroad tracks, then by foot across the tracks to the beach. At that time the northern half of Meadow Point (named by the Coast Guard) was the site of a shipyard until 1913. To the south the beach curved in along the railroad seaway - all the way to Salmon Bay. The State owns the tidelands south of the park, with boat works and yards by the Bay.

Golden Gardens Park has four reservable courts in front of the bathhouse. An additional two are set aside for free drop-in play on a first come, first served basis. These drop-in courts are the two not directly in front of the bathhouse. This aerial photo shows reservable court numbers.

Golden Gardens one acre off-leash area is located in the upper northern portion of the park and is a popular destination for dogs. The area includes a wide-open space covered in wood chips for playing and running. Trees are scattered throughout the off-leash area. Tables, benches and a small covered area offer places to rest and protection on rainy days. Parking and a restroom are nearby.

Hester Garden Park shows just how nature not only thrives but sings in Seabrook. The park, a former nursery, is an undiscovered gem along the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, just south of the corner of Todville and East Meyer Avenue.

Birds, butterflies, and dragonflies soar above at almost every step while the paths split off to ensure each participant chooses their adventure. Bridges arch over streams, and pathways wind around ponds and alongside all kinds of native plant life. Hester Garden Park is favored with an impressive variety of trees and shrubs, many of which are evergreen making it a beautiful place to visit year around.

Nestled in a grove of evergreens above Lake Whatcom sits a unique city park showcasing original sculptures in a 2.5 acre garden. Meandering paths wander through the peaceful landscape of Big Rock Garden Park, where nature and art complement each other.

In the late 1990s, NeighborSpace, a non-profit organization devoted to creating community open spaces in Chicago, established a passive park with a perennial garden in an underserved area of the Lake View community. The Chicago Park District entered into lease agreement with NeighborSpace in 2001 for the use of this property. The organization named the .14-acre site the Warner Garden because it is located on Warner Avenue. The organization and neighborhood retained the long-used Warner Garden Park name.

With so many beautiful gardens and museums around Northern Delaware, it is no surprise that some smaller locations may go mostly unnoticed. Valley Garden Park is one of those places. With rolling hills, foliage, wildflowers, and wildlife living along the creek, it is a beautiful park to escape to during busy seasons of life. As a photographer, I absolutely love this location for sessions of all kinds. I joined this beautiful family for their session, and tagged along as the little ones ran around and explored.

Wandering through the park, there are paths for every kind of explorer. Whether you want to walk paved paths, find frogs along the creek, or hike through greenery, you will be sure to find a path for you. I try to visit Valley Garden Park frequently with my two little ones. As a result, I have been able to explore different areas, and see its beauty throughout the seasons.

With so many beautiful parks and gardens in Northern Delaware, it is easy to miss a few. I absolutely love Valley Garden Park for both work and recreation!
