Hello Debaters and Public Speakers,

 

It's that time again! LIDC planning meetings are one month away and as usual we are required to submit topics for the competition. Please submit your list of suggested topics by Friday 9th September. Every member is required to submit at least three suggestions. Former members are also welcome to make suggestions.

These are the topics i thought of:

1. The minimum age for voting should be raised to twenty-one years.
2. Due to its medicinal advantages Marijuana should be legalized globally.
3. Schools in the Caribbean should start afternoon Boxing clubs for youths to expel pent up anger
instead of them joining gangs.

1. The increasing popularity of the internet and social networking sites is (solely) responsible for the increase in sexually motivated crimes against minors.

2. Parents should be held legally responsible for the commission of statutory rape between two minors.

3. The growing popularity of "American" sports is directly responsible for the disinterest in "Caribbean" sports among Caribbean youth.

4. Rape should be upgraded to a capital offence in all countries.

Sigh! Tried to mix it up a bit!

Should gay couples be given the same legal rights as heterosexuals in adopting children?

Is it morally acceptable to experiment on non-human animals to develop products and medicines that benefit human beings?
