The Mekong Migration Network and the Asian Migrant Centre invite you to the launch of the book 'From Our Eyes:
Mekong Migrant Reflections: 2000 – 2012'
Date: Thursday, 16 August 2012

Place: The Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand
Penthouse, Maneeya Center, 518/5 Ploenchit Road, Patumwan, Bangkok
From Our Eyes is a collection of personal stories, insight and analysis from 15 migrants, on their lives over the past 12
years. The accounts convey important perspectives on the practical impact of migrant-related policies, with the hope of
countering a general lack of recognition that migrants are indeed capable of analysing issues that relate to their own
lives.
The launch will feature speakers from the migrant community reflecting on the book, and on their experiences. A
migrant leader from the Workers Solidarity Association (WSA) highlights the importance of recognising migrant voices,
opinions and analysis:
"The policies and regulations relating to migrant workers have made our lives sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter. We
would like to suggest that governments create policies that solve real problems and create public benefits, and do not
ruin the lives of migrants. As we migrants speak out through this publication, we hope that the relevant authorities will
hear us and reflect our opinions in their policy making."

หนังสือ “มุมมองผ่านสายตาเรา” เป็นการรวบรวมเรื่องราวส่วนบุคคล, มุมมองเชิงลึกและการวิเคราะห์จากแรงงานย้ายถิ่นสิบห้าคนใน
ชีวิตของพวกเขา/เธอตลอดช่วงสิบสองปีที่ผ่านมา เรื่องราวต่างๆได้ถ่ายทอดทัศนคติที่สำคัญต่อผลกระทบในทางปฏิบัติของนโยบายที่
เกี่ยวข้องกับผู้ย้ายถิ่น ซึ่งคาดหวังว่าจะเป็นการโต้ตอบต่อการขาดการยอมรับอย่างทั่วไปว่า ผู้ย้ายถิ่นเป็นผู้ที่สามารถที่จะวิเคราะห์
ประเด็นต่างๆที่เกี่ยวข้องกับชีวิตของพวกเขา/เธอได้อย่างแท้จริง
งานเปิดตัวหนังสือครั้งนี้จะประกอบไปด้วย ตัวแทนจากชุมชนผู้ย้ายถิ่นซึ่งได้สะท้อนมุมมองต่างๆไว้ในหนังสือ ตลอดจนเรื่องราว
ประสบการณ์ต่างๆของพวกเขา/เธอ แกนนำผู้ย้ายถิ่นจากกลุ่มแรงงานสามัคคีได้เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของการยอมรับเสียงสะท้อน,
ความคิดเห็นและการวิเคราะห์ของผู้ย้ายถิ่น ไว้ว่า
“นโยบายและระเบียบต่างๆที่เกี่ยวข้องกับแรงงานข้ามชาติทำให้ชีวิตของพวกเราบางครั้งก็หวานชื่น บางครั้งก็ขื่นขม พวกเราต้องการที่
จะเสนอว่ารัฐบาลควรจะปรับปรุงนโยบายที่สามารดำเนินการแก้ปัญหาได้อย่างแท้จริงและเป็นนโยบายที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อสาธารณะ และ
ต้องไม่เป็นผลเสียต่อชีวิตของผู้ย้ายถิ่น ดังที่พวกเราได้สะท้อนไว้ในหนังสือเล่มนี้ พวกเราหวังว่าเจ้าหน้าที่ที่เกี่ยวข้องจะได้ยินเสียงและ
ความคิดเห็นที่สะท้อนออกมานี้ของพวกเราในการกำหนดนโยบายของพวกเขา”
