Participants must be full-time presence to ensure smooth and effective delivery. Food is provided for non-Muslims during the workshop. Food for breaking fast will be provided for the Muslim

* How news items should be played up in a newsletter
* Why a news item is more important than another
* The basics of writing news
* The use of pictures, graphics in a newsletter
* The role of layout for newsletters
* How to conduct interviews with newsmakers
* What good writing is about – choosing the right word, writing effective sentences, making the whole article flow
* The writing concepts of clarity, concision, cohesiveness, coherence
* Basic good grammar
* How to give striking headlines for a newsletter
TRAINER
The workshop will be conducted by Kee Thuan Chye, a journalist with more than 30 years of industry experience. He has worked for newspapers like The National Echo, New Straits Times and The Star in various editorial capacities.
