Media! Let’s stop this Ideological Dichotomy; We should call Spade, a
Spade:
The great modern philosopher Bertrand Russell in his article
‘Psychology and Politics’ quotes the example to prove that the
allegorical perceptions at times decide the outcome of important
issues. In the Europe of Middle Ages, the political issues were
resolved through metaphors from theology. The tussle between Pope and
King was at its zenith. The church was telling the people that if King
is the moon in the sky, the Pope is like a sun in the heaven. This
terminology resulted in to the victory of pope.
It well known fact that MMA (group of religious political parties),
cling to the symbol of ‘Book’ in elections, exploiting it with
reference to Holy Qur’an, to get the votes of simple Muslim on the
name of Islam. Gen Zia Ul Haq framed the question in the referendum in
such a way that no Muslim worth the name could say No. Similarly the
word Taliban has been traditionally used for the students seeking
Islamic knowledge, in religious seminaries, a noble cause. But Now a
days pseudo ‘Taliban’Kill Muslims by calling them Apostate (Murtad),
despite heinous crimes against humanity they are still being referred
to with the honorably as Taliban, ‘Jangjoo’ or ‘Shidat-Pasand’. There
is a dire need to correct this wrong to address the ideological and
intellectual dichotomy, by calling the Spade as Spade. They are the
Khawariji Fitnah of 21st Century. So call then ‘Khawariji’. [Details:

The Muslim history is full of ‘Fitnah’ (‘trial,’ or ‘test’, which
refer to heretical uprisings, especially the first major internal
struggle within the Muslim community (656-661 C.E), which resulted in
both civil war and religious schism. During the reign of the third
caliph, 'Uthman, certain rebellious groups accused the Caliph of
nepotism and misrule, and the resulting discontent led to his
assassination. The rebels then recognized the Prophet's cousin and son-
in-law, 'Ali, as ruler but later deserted him and fought against him,
accusing him of having committed a grave sin (God forbid) in
submitting his claim to the caliphate to arbitration, they are called
Khawarij. The word Kharaju, from which Khariji is derived, means "to
withdraw" and Khawarij were, therefore, seceders who believed in
active dissent or rebellion against a state of affairs they considered
to be gravely impious. The basic doctrine of the Khawarij was that: “A
person or a group who committed a grave error or sin and did not
sincerely repent ceased to be Muslim”. According to them mere
profession of the faith "there is no god but God; Muhammad is the
prophet of God” did not make a person a Muslim unless this faith was
accompanied by righteous deeds. In other words, good works were an
integral part of faith and not extraneous to it. The second principle
that flowed from their aggressive idealism was militancy, or Jihad,
which the Khawarij considered to be among the cardinal principles, or
pillars, of Islam. Contrary to the orthodox view, they interpreted the
Qur’anic command about "enjoining good and forbidding evil"(Qur’an;
3:104) to mean the vindication of truth through the sword. The placing
of these two principles together made the Khawarij highly inflammable
fanatics, intolerant of almost any established political authority.
They incessantly resorted to rebellion and as a result were virtually
wiped out during the first two centuries of Islam. Although till
recently Chasidism has been considered essentially a story of the
past, which left permanent influence on Islam, because of reaction
against it. It forced the religious leadership of the community to
formulate a bulwark against religious intolerance and fanaticism.
Who is Violating Qur’an? No Muslim by the name will ever dare to
reject the Commandments of Allah, clearly mentioned in Qur’an and
Hadith.
The Pseudo Doctrine of Takfir; is being used by Taliban, in
sanctioning violence against leaders and people of Islamic states who
are deemed insufficiently religious. Takfir is a pronouncement that,
any one calling himself Muslim, but not practicing the is an apostate
(unbeliever, kafir-Murtid) and no longer a Muslim hence liable to be
killed. It has become a central ideology of militant groups such as
those in Egypt (Taliban, now also in Afghanistan and adjoining tribal
areas of Pakistan) which is claimed to be derived from the ideas of
Sayyid Qutab. Mainstream Muslims and Islamic groups reject the concept
of ‘Takfir’ as a doctrinal deviation because any one who declares
himself a Muslim, is to be considered a Muslim even if he does not
practice Islam but believes in its fundamentals to be true. He is a
‘sinner Muslim’ not apostate or Murtad. Leaders such as Hassan al-
Hudaybi (d.1977) and Yousf al–Qaradawi reject ‘Takfir’ as un-Islamic
and marked by bigotry and zealotry. Such narrow mindedness has
exacerbated the evil of sectarianism and the resulting intolerance
among the masses has led to a dangerous trend towards sectarian
militancy. Taliban take cover under this pseudo doctrine of Takfir, to
kill ordinary simple Muslims even while they are praying in mosques,
or working around public places.
Hence the Media and all intellectuals should as a first step STOP
calling them ‘Taliban’, ‘Jangjoo’ or ‘Shidat-Pasand’ they should be
called ‘Khawarij’ or ‘Khawarji of Pakistan’. The Ayas (verses) of
Qur’an being violated by them should be given wide coverage. It is
VERY IMPORTANT that the intellectuals, as well as electronic and print
media should take the lead to give moral and religious ascendancy to
the soldiers that, they are fighting the enemies of Islam and
Pakistan”. The religious scholars should also come forward in big way,
though they have already declared the acts of Taliban as un-Islamic,
which is not sufficient.
