In the midst of the recent excecution of the Iraq Dictator Saddam
Hussein, the following crossed my mind.

Why is it that Saddam is the only one to be punished for the death and
distruction that has been inflicted on the people of Iraq? Should
those individuals responsible for putting a tyrant into power, by
supplying weapons, money and training for his armies, not be punished
as well? Without the weapons provided to the country to defend itself
and its resources (by a developed nation), we wouldn't know Saddam from
the Prime Minister of Canada. However, he let his power get out of
control. Therefore, I believe that Saddam is not the only one
responsible for what happened in Iraq. Could it be that instead of
being a silent ally to those that supplied the weapons, that Saddam
used his power for wrong and ended up causing his final downfall? That
he overstepped his boundaries when he attacked Kuwait? Well, all of
those things wouldn't have happened without modern weapons supplied
from a modern nation. Saddam was the distraction that the world needed
to keep from finding out the truth. Saddam was not this way on his
own. So, to close, the newly appointed, elected, hand picked, whatever
you want to call it, leader of Iraq better take note of the recent
events. Anyone put into power by the U.S. falls (is forcefully
removed) at some point in time. [see Michael Moore's documentary
Bowling for Collumbine).

I renamed this topic into "The Fall of a Tyrant", which seems more
appropriate than "The Fall of a World Leader". Or, did you perhaps
refer to George Bush as a World Leader who, with his invasion of Iraq,
paved the road to his own downfall?

Your revision of the title is appropriate as it does not definitively
specify a 'nation's' leader as a 'world' leader. Therefore, with the
revised title, G.W.B. would also qualify as a tyrant and by invading
Iraq has also paved the road to his own downfall. The only difference
is, G.W.B. will not stand trial for war crimes on humanity, but rather
will be remember for sparking the debate as to why the US ever invaded
Iraq.

BTW, Sam I think you should open up your other discussion again about
Dictatorships. It's a good read and there are some very recent
similarities between the 14 points and a certain G.W.B.

Yes, good idea and good debate, Jason, feel encouraged to make comments on what points at dictatorship and what remainds you to GWB. Just post a reply!

Cheers!
