Cool greetings from scorching-hot UP System, dear Deans and Directors: With all due respects to your Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors for Academic Affairs, I am taking the initiative to email you directly just to be 101% sure that the request of the OIL office is received by you so that you may meet the submission deadline on May 15. Since most of us are on vacation mode, I thought that connecting directly with you would help. I hope you agree with me. Thank you for understanding...
The OIL is currently preparing three(3) dvds for the Academic Packaging Committee that will help cater to high school students (that may be used during your school-to-school campaigns); alumni, corporate world and our international academic institution partners.
In this light, may I please request you to forward this email to the highly creative person(s), with likewise extremely picturesque mind(s), who will shoot/take dynamic still photos of the following scenarios of your CUs:
(1) latest infrastructure (with and without academic stakeholders, i.e. students, faculty, REPS, staff; alumni) ;
(2) state-of-the-art equipment (with and without academic stakeholders, i.e. students, faculty, REPS, staff,alumni) that make or hope to continue to make a significant impact on Philippine society? i.e. NMR; light and sound equipment for theatre; medical equipment; bio-technology equipment; etc
Second, please provide 5-minute raw ( un-edited) interview footages on video (with a very quiet background and excellent lumination) of at least five (5) of your current as well as budding "champions/exemplars" who have contributed or continue to impact Philippine society because of their highly significant research-based and/or creative contributions, i.e. dairy products; lagundi; sago; new-born screening;Phil culture and arts; etc.
The major purpose of the interview is to explain the impact of their research on Philippine society and in what other ways external donors may help improve the current state of their research. The interview may be half or full body and must be situated in the appropriate environment of the research to give the probable donors (alumni or non alumni in corporations) an idea of the state of the research/program/product. On the other hand, high school students may also be enticed to enroll in the programs where such productive undertakings are taking place. Our international partner universities will also be given a clear idea of UP's strengths!
Please bear in mind that all the photos and videos you will submit will form the database to be used for all UP Academic Packaging that will be shown locally and internationally. So the best quality "action" shots, dynamic videos and best audibility is a MUST.
Ideally, our deadline was yesterday because the clock has been ticking so quickly and the "best-of-the-best" high school students are strongly being enticed by our "competitors". Likewise, other academic institutions are aggressively luring the best of the best. Of course, we should never be content with receiving the tail end of the BEST. Never!!!
Let us wake up to the reality that UP does need to "package" itself to attract the very very "best-est"!
However, given the summer circumstances and people vacationing right and left, the more realistic deadline may have to be May 15, 2012.
If, however, your CU admits that you do not have the expertise to perform the required tasks, please email me asap so we may send a team of three (concept director, professional photographer and one videographer) on a first-come-first-serve basis. We will also consider the travel schedule from one CU to another for practical reasons.
All you will have to shoulder will be the modest lodging of the team (1 female and 2 males) which may be in your guest house; their three full meals; their transportation from the airport (if applicable) to the different sites they will take photos and videos of; and back to the airport (if applicable); and provide the interview scenarios.
As for UP Diliman, Manila, UPOU, UPLB and UPBaguio, transportation to the different research and creative sites within your CUs will be most appreciated.
Hope to hear from you very very soon!
Keep cool this summer, dear friends...
