Solving EM problems for nanoparticles

Hi Everyone,

I am trying setup a method to do EM study for nanophontonic and plasmonic problems in DealII. I remember someone has attempted this but has not worked it out yet. Basically I need to solve the Maxwell equations on the sub-micron scale, and the simplest situation is probably the scattering of a plane wave from a gold nano sphere. Do you have any suggestions on how to start? I am going through tutorials at step 6 now.

Also, I am having some trouble deriving the weak form of the four maxwell equations. I saw one 2d example where equations could be simplified and combined into 1 before solving in matlab.

Any suggestion is highly appreciated!
