Hi,

The error message says: virtual memory exhausted: Cannot allocate memory. You need more memory to compile deal.II. If you are working in a virtual machine, you need to allow it to use more memory. If this is all the memory that you have, you need to find a computer with more memory.

Best,

Bruno

Hi,

Thank you so much, I used Virtrual machine on windows to run Ubuntu, I have already attributed 1GB to the internal memory of the subsystem, Isn't it enough? Or does it indicate the virtual memory?

Best regards

Niu

1GB is not enough. I think that you will need 3GB. We try to make it so that we don't require more than 2GB to compile deal.II but I don't think that 2GB is enough for the last few versions.

Dear Bruno,

Thank you so much for your advice. I have successfully configure and build the library with your help. Do I need to configure and build the documentation as indicated in 2.3 here? https://dealii.org/9.0.0/readme.html

Many thanks for your help any time when you are free.

Best regards,
Zihua

You can, but you don't have to: you can always use the online documentation.

I don't actually know why p4est checks for Fortran compilers. But since it
does, you probably need to install some kind of Fortran 77 or Fortan 90
compiler, such as 'gfortran', on your system.
