This project aims to harness the Internet as a strategy for training the PWDs in a work-from-home model. Through e-learning, PWDs are trained to become skilled virtual assistants and online freelancers.
The January 24 session is an introduction to working at home. After attending the orientation and learning sessions on online freelancing, those who signify to continue can get in touch with the industry partners for continuous training depending on the nature of the job given to them.
In a work-from-home, a person with disability can be trained to work as:
- Home based agent of a company who works from a home office, providing customer service to client companies.
- Virtual assistants that provide administrative, secretarial, and clerical support, as well as creative and/or technical services for clients.
- Work at home transcriptionists that are usually independent contractors who transcribe and edit recorded reports onto their home computer.
- Online tutors for internet based companies that offer help, within a variety of subject areas, to students of all ages.
Who Can Attend?
The criterion for those who can attend are:
1. Must be a PWD with at least a High School diploma;
2. Knows basic computer operation; and
3. Has regular computer and internet access or can set up a work station at home.
Those who qualify can enlist online. An email will be sent if they are accepted. We will do our best to fairly distribute slots based on disability and geographical location.
