problem with sudoku live

Hello, I loaded the game onto my laptop, and whenever I click on a
difficulty level to start a game the gameboard is messed up. where
there should be numbers or icons there are white squares. I can see
the timer going in the corner, but I don't see numbers, just purple
rectangles that change shape. When I click on an empty box, it
changes to a larger, flickering white box. I have Windows Vista on my
laptop. What can I do to fix this? I hope I don't have to put it on
my desktop, because I'd never play it if I do. Thank you.
