42) Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Wenn Gott euer Vater waere, wuerdet
ihr mich lieben; denn von Gott bin ich ausgegenagen und gekom-
men. Ich bin nicht in meinem eigenen Namen gekommen, sondern
er hat gesandt. 43) Warum versteht ihr nicht, was ich sage?
Weil ihr nicht imstande seid, mein Wort zu hoeren. 44) Ihr
habt den Teufel zum Vater und ihr wollt das tun, wonach es
eurem Vater verlangt. Er war ein Moerder von Anfang an. Und
er steht nicht in der Wahrheit; denn es ist keine Wahrheit in
ihm. Wenn er luegt, sagt er das, was aus ihm selbst kommt;
denn er ist ein Luegner und ist der Vater der Luege. 45) Mir
aber glaubt ihr nicht, weil ich die Wahrheit sage. 46) Wer von
euch kann mir eine Suende nachweisen? Wenn ich die Wahrheit
sage, warum glaubt ihr mir nicht? 47) Wer aus Got ist, hoert
die Worte Gottes; ihr hoert sie deshalb nicht, weil ihr nicht
aus Gott seid.

42) Jesus said ti them, "If God were your Father, you would love
me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my
own; but he sent me. 43) Why is my language not clear to you?
Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44) You belong to
your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's
desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the
truth, for ther is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his
native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45)
Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46) Can
any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth,
why don't believe me? 47) He who belongs to God hears what Gods
says. the reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to
God.
