I cried when I saw the pictures of the girls holding candles in Munchen. And
a close up of a post card laid in front of the US Embassy in London.
It said something like
"Dear Yanks, If you need help, just call a Brit.
Signed a Brit."

I think you all feel similarly--- even the French (slight bit of sarcasm...)

I understand that this event is somewhat of a coming of age for the US, as
such acts have been occurring in Germany, France, UK, Spain, Italy, Israel,
etc. for many years. You all have "civilized" countries, just as much as
the US. Maybe you folks are more civilized than we are. In any case, it
looks like we all stand together. The photos of candle light vigils in
Munchen, Paris, London, and on and on are very touching.

All of the political, legal, and intellectual discourse is of course
necessary. We must develop rules to protect ourselves and also protect
those who belong to groups that might be mistaken for the real perpetrators.
We must develop legal rules to deal with such acts since these acts are
new-- there are no rules currently in place. But we can't wait for such
rules to develop before acting. Though we want to blast someone, we can't
blast indiscriminately.

Who knows, maybe we'll even sign on to the Treaty of Rome and support the
International Criminal Court. God knows we in the US want to benefit from
it. But as is typical, we do not want to be bound by it. Maybe it is
really time for us Americans to grow up.

Lets all get together and, once we're sure of whom to hit, hit em hard.
Hopefully this will help Americans understand that the world is a dangerous
place. And that we really have to stick together, regardless of our color
or religion.
