CNN ... just received from German source that Joschka Fischer is
actually a Jew who was born in Novi Sad, Serbia, which might explain
[partially] why Avi Primor [Israeli Ambassador to Germany] would say:

"Joschka Fischer is an extraordinary man altogether and he has played
an extraordinary role in that so far he brought the Green party from a
very hostile attitude gradually and slowly to an extremely friendly
contact with Israel," says Avi Primor, Israeli Ambassador to Germany.
"He is in permanent contact with Israelis, he has the habit of
regularly going to Israel, meeting Israelis and receiving them. "

... OR, is the faintly doctored older version true, that -->>

Joseph Martin Fischer [nickname "Yoschka"], leader of Germany's Green
Party, was born the son of a butcher in Gerabronn, about 45 miles
northeast of Stuttgart, on April 12, 1948 -- two years after his
Hungarian-German parents were forced to leave Budapest.

He did we are certain drop out of school at 19 and eloped to Gretna
Green in SCOTLAND to marry his first wife, who was then a minor.

In the mid-1990s, after his third wife left him, Joschka Fischer began
a drastic regime of running and dieting, and transformed his physique.

He was badly overweight and a candidate for a heart attack, but in a
short time he lost more than 30kg. In a move which surprised many,
Fischer, now 51 and the foreign minister married for his fourth time
to the 29 year old journalist Nicola Leske in 1999. He had met her
when she was an intern to the Green Party in the Parliament.

Fresh is the memory of the German leftist peace movement opposing the
Gulf War in 1991 and rejecting all help for Israel; still audible is
the applause for a prominent party spokesman who claimed that it was
Israels own fault to be bombarded by Iraq.

Since then, Fischer and many of his colleagues have reconsidered and
are by now far more critical towards the Islamic Republic of Iran than
retiring foreign minister Klaus Kinkel and have gained the reputation
of conducting a daily discourse with Jews in Germany and abroad.

As in France, Britain's Jewish community of 300,000 has lately
solidified its clout. The Labour Friends of Israel (LFI), a lobbying
group affiliated with the Labour Party, which has been in existence
for nearly 60 years, now influences policy in a way that would never
have been possible even a decade ago; when the party was in opposition
and Labour was broadly supportive of the Palestinian cause.

Michael Levy, a leading Jewish businessman with close ties to the
Israeli political establishment, befriended Tony Blair [his father is
Scottish] in 1994 and was instrumental in effecting a policy shift so
complete that Blair is now considered one of Israel's staunchest
European allies.

Levy became a key fund raiser for the Labour Party and after the 1997
general election was rewarded with a seat in the House of Lords and an
appointment as Blair's personal envoy to the Middle East.

Since 1997 LFI, which also has close ties with the Israeli Labor
Party, has sponsored the visits of some 40 Labour M.P.s to Israel,
where they've met with Israeli leaders.

These undercurrents led to the creation of a clever editorial cartoon,
next to a German headline, showing two Orthodox Jewish settlers
building a house in the middle of a street in a German urban
landscape.

A German policeman is writing a ticket and makes the comment, "Please
do not take this as anti-Semitic, but you are standing in a no-parking
zone."

Dazu liegt mir folgende Geheiminformation vor:

---

What do you think happened to Yoshka Kokoshka when he lived in
Scotland and married a minor? Isn't Yoshka [Joschka] an old Mari
name, from the ancient finnisch-estnisch-ungarische Stamm in central
Russia [in the Bible, the Cheremiss tribe]?

Why is the Foreign Minister of Germany using this name? How many
Germans are named "Joschka"??

Und ... by the way, why does no one question or probe further, that
Tony Blair's father was a head of the Conservatives in Scotland?
Seems a very strange start for a progressive Labor PM! [Blair set out
to distance the Labour Party's relationship with the trade unions and
reduce the number of unions in Britain and the power of their
representatives in the party.]

"Joschka" kommt von "Yoshka," ein geläufiger Name unter jüdischen
Familien in den Magyarregionen, denn in den Jungen, die Josef benannt
werden.

? Haben Herr Blair und Herr Fischer die zahlreichen Zeiten des Grünen
Beteiligten, besonders hinsichtlich der Bombardierungen in Serbien
verraten?

Anthony Charles Lynton ["Tony"] Blair was born in May of 1953. His
father, Leo, was adopted by a couple in Scotland called Blair. Leo's
military gifts emerged during the war, which he began as a private,
and ended as a major!

After the war he qualified as a barrister, or trial lawyer, and became
a university law teacher at Durham, where his children grew up, and
chairman of the Durham Conservative Association. He married a woman
named Hazel Corscaden, a Protestant. Leo Blair next lectured in law
at Edinburgh University and then practised as a barrister on the
Newcastle-upon-Tyne circuit. My hunch is that the cause of Irish
nationalism will never get more of a hearing from a Blair government
than that of John Major's.

In the pattern of upward mobility, Leo sent little Tony first to
Durham Choristers School and then to the ultra prestigious Fettes, a
public (private--upper class--expensive) school in Edinburgh. It will
be a nice irony if Labour gives us the first "public-school man" as
Prime Minister -- since Harold Macmillan retired in 1963-- all
subsequent Tory leaders, Heath, Thatcher, and Major, all came from
financial backgrounds as middle class as those as their Labour
opponents.

More to the point, Leo Blair, Tony Blair's father, was a staunch Tory
voter all of his life (though he now loyally supports his son), and
Tony Blair has no Labour roots at all, either in intellectual
socialism or in the broader labor movement. So why isn't he a
conservative? Maybe they would never have him!
