We were very sad to hear that Dutch KLEM magazine will stop.
During E-Live we spoke with many people and all thought that it
was a big shame that there no longer would be a paper version
with Electronic Music news.
Since then we have been discussing the possibility of starting
a new magazine with the same quality and feel as KLEM
magazine. And we didn't wanted to announce anything until
we were absolutely certain that it could be done.
And now... We can FINALLY announce it....

Early next year we will start a *new* Electronic Music magazine!
The name of the magazine is: E-dition
We will announce exact details about subscription rates and
other particulars very soon.

However, the following is certain:

> 90% of the reviews in the KLEM magazine were made by
Frits Couwenberg, Paul Rijkens and Bert Strolenberg.
Frits has stopped but both Paul AND Bert will be members
of the editorial office of the new magazine! This means that
the review section will have the same quality as the KLEM
had as Paul and Bert were the e-side(*) of the magazine. :-)
(*) The die-hard fans of soccer club Ajax are called the f-side.

> Other well known reviewers like Wouter Bessels (editor in
chief for Background Magazine), Andre de Waal and Menno
von Brucken Fock (reviewers for IO Pages) will also review
for the new magazine. Plus several people who wrote reviews
for KLEM, will review for our new magazine.

> The news section that KLEM had will also be there as well as
interviews, gear talk and much, much more.

> The magazine will be available in Dutch AND in English.

> Every magazine will be accompanied by (at least) one FREE CD
with unreleased tracks. Several famous artists have already
donated tracks.

> Subscribers will get discount on every event that Groove organizes
and will also receive special discount and offers.

So in conclusion: the new magazine will have the same quality
contents as magazine KLEM but with many additional features.

If you're interested in this new magazine then you can send
an Email to <e-di...@groove.nl> with your name, address and
Email address and we will add you to a list of interested.
This week we will open a website with more details.
We will also raffle some CD's between the first 100 people
that send us an Email.

If you're a reviewer and want to write for the new magazine
then you can also Email us: <e-di...@groove.nl>
We know how important a good review section is, so we
want to have as many objective, critical writers as possible.
We also welcome translators (Dutch<>English) to contact us.

Why not call it "New Age Synth Music" magazine.

This is 2003 and describing a piece of music by the fact that a synth
or electronic gear was used to create it is jjust plain dumb.

"EM"/"Berlin School" = "New Age" synth music.

I think I'll call all "light/soft rock" 'Guitar Music' or "GM" for
now on.......

"Hey that Air Supply is some cool GM, dood"

Because there's no holistic healing associated with it.

Uh, yeah... depends.

Um, wrong... ! (Where did you go to school?)

Call it what you will - and remove all doubt.

>"Hey that Air Supply is some cool GM, dood"

If you like them, fine.

Now onto a serious follow up. If you don't like it, fine. Calling
something a name that it isn't doesn't do you much justice in showing
your prog level of smarts.

There's a big difference between Klaus Schulze and Air Supply.

You can have Air Supply, I'll take Schulze - anyday.

Now, I return you to your regularly scheduled soap opera, because it
appears you have no clue about EM.

The genre name Electronic Music has been around since the 70s (or
earlier?), has little to do with the genre known as "New Age" music,
and doesn't need to change. It doesn't signify only music that
includes "a synth or electronic gear." It may not have been the most
accurate name to choose at the time, but it was chosen, it stuck, and
the genre it still signifies still exists. Changing it to "New Age
Synth Music" would make it much less accurate.

Very well said, and with more restraint for the ignorance and
obnoxiousness that was displayed by the original poster than I could
have shown. Bravo!

Gee, thanks. It always gets to me when someone suggests that something
should change just because "this is 2003" or for some similarly
unrelated reason.
