Einführung in das deutschsprachige Usenet

Die News-Hierarchie "de" der deutschsprachigen Newsgruppen ist auf
einer Vielzahl von Rechnern weltweit verfügbar. Obwohl die meisten
Teilnehmer aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz kommen, wird
die News-Hierarchie "de" international genutzt.

Im Usenet werden vorrangig zwei Arten von Diensten unterschieden:

NEWS
----
Als News bezeichnet man öffentliche Nachrichten, die auf Millionen
Rechnern weltweit empfangen werden. News sind frei verfügbar und
können von jedem, der sich dafür interessiert, gelesen werden.
Man nennt diese Nachrichten auch "Artikel".

In der Gruppe "de.test" kann ausprobiert werden, ob man seine
News-Software korrekt installiert hat.

MAIL
----
Im Gegensatz zu den öffentlichen News bezeichnet man als Mail
Briefe, die nur an den oder die angegebenen Adressaten verschickt
werden. Mail ist normalerweise vertraulich zu behandeln.

Obwohl der Mail-Dienst nicht unmittelbar zum Usenet gehört, ist er
(nicht nur technisch) eng mit dem News-Dienst verbunden. Denn was
wären öffentliche Diskussionsforen ohne die Möglichkeit der privaten
Kommunikation.

Die verschiedenen Diskussionsforen (Newsgruppen) sind aus Gründen der
Übersichtlichkeit in eine hierarchische Struktur untergliedert. Die
einzelnen Hierarchie-Ebenen sind dabei durch einen Punkt voneinander
getrennt. Man nennt "de" daher auch eine Top-Level-Hierarchie; sie ist
in folgende Second-Level-Hierarchien unterteilt:

de.admin Administrativa. Eine Essenz der Diskussionen ist in der
Gruppe "de.admin.news.announce" verfügbar in Form von
ausformulierten Wahlaufrufen und Informationsartikeln.

de.alt Alternative Groups - Gruppen, die ohne formelles Voting
geschaffen werden koennen (eine faire Meinungsumfrage in
de.alt.admin genügt) und dadurch einem ständigen Wandel
unterworfen sind. Teilweise mit besonders aktuellen
Themen.

de.comm Communications. Daten- und Sprachkommunikation,
Protokolle, Software, Anwendungsgebiete. Im wesentlichen
technisch orientiert.

de.comp Computer. Rechnerbezogene Themen.

de.etc Vermischte Themen, die sonst nirgendwo einzuordnen sind.

de.markt Ankauf, Verkauf, Jobs.

de.newusers Nicht nur für Anfänger: Informationen und erste Hilfe
zum Umgang mit dem Usenet.

de.org Organisationen und Vereinigungen.

de.rec Recreational. Themen aus den Bereichen Freizeit, Sport,
Hobby, Musik, Film oder allgemein Erholung.

de.sci Science. Wissenschaftliche Themen.

de.soc Social. Gesellschaft, Politik, Soziales.

de.talk Allgemeine Diskussionen über verschiedene
Lebensbereiche.

Diese Second-Level-Hierarchien sind entweder in weitere
Unter-Hierarchien (Third-Level) gegliedert oder enthalten konkrete
Newsgruppen. Direkt unter "de" gibt es die Gruppen "de.test" und
"de.answers".

Die Newsgruppen der Top-Level-Hierarchie "de" werden auch "de.*" oder
"de.all" genannt. Da die Unter-Hierarchie "de.alt" nur bedingt den
Regeln von "de" unterworfen ist, bezeichnet man mit "de,!de.alt" oder
"de.!alt" alle de-Newsgruppen auschließlich der de.alt-Gruppen.

Zur weiteren Orientierung gibt es für die Newsgruppen
Kurzbeschreibungen (auch "Tagline" genannt) und ausführliche
