I must say if all you want to do is convert the dollars to sterling,
you don't really need a dollar account, just pay the cheques into your
sterling account.

I assume you are looking for a business account rather than a plain
personal account? If so Citibank UKy be more problematic and expensive.

However, I think you will find banks such as Midland and Lloyds/TSB
offer US-based (ie they give you a cheque book which clears in the US)
dollar accounts, but only through their offshre branches.

Try Investec Bank in Jersey or Guinness Mahon in Guernsey (get numbers
from 192)
