Question: Newton 110 sync with OS9.0

My friend would like some help in getting his Newton 110 with Newton OS v.
1.13 to synchronize through the serial cable with his Mac running OS 9.0.
Presently the connection terminates with a no response error. Is there any
software or technique to get his old newton to talk with his more recent Mac

This is of interest to me as welll as I've had difficulty (read, no way )
synching my G3Powerbook w/OS 9.0.4 Would you mind staying on the NG so I can
figure it out as well?
