Today (or yesterday;-) I bought the Fastlane Z3 scsi controller (only
100 DEM!) for my A4K. I want to replace my Oktagon 4008.
I wanted to update the z3scsi.device from v5.998 to v8.5 with the
z3scsi.rom from the phase5 ftp-site.
I used SCSIConfig for this job, but as soon as I rebooted (after "Save
Changes" of course), my amiga doesn't want to start anymore;-(((((
It reboots every 1-2 seconds! I can't even call the bootmenu!
I have to swap the fastlane with the oktagon and delete all partitions
and filesystems (I don't really know if its necessary, but so it
works) from the oktagon and "save changes". Then reinstall the
fastlane.
How can I update the z3scsi.device with this old board v2.2?
I read that v2.4 is the most current.
Please, can anybody help me?

AFAIK the Fastlane has an eprom in the PLCC package. This means you
cannot update the firmware by software only by burning a new eprom or
asking phase5. I remember phase5 sending new eproms with either the
MKII/o6o or the MKIII/PPC.
AFAIK the button in SCSIConfig was supposed to be for updating a
MKIII/PPC, but I don't know whether it works.

A few years ago I had a similar problem with my old CyberSCSI 1,
at the time p5 weren't selling ROMs. Problem solved with a bit
of help from Ralph and a friend of mine who had access to an
EPROM burner .
