'Creating Devices' beim Booten dauert lange

Hallo!

Ich habe mir gestern den 2.6.14.4 von kernel.org geladen und mittels 'make
oldconfig' gebaut. Der Kernel tut auch, was er sollte. Allerdings dauert
das 'Creating devices' beim Booten sehr lange. Ich bekomme ein

Creating devices
input: ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse on isa0060/serio1

und dann dauert es etwa 1 Minute, bis wieder was geschieht. Ich nehme an,
dass ich (bzw. mein Rechner) in einen Timeout laeuft. Hat jemand eine Idee,
an welcher Stelle ich mal suchen koennte. Googeln und Docu lesen hat bis
jetzt nicht viel gebracht :(
