driver conflict [WinOnCD vs. DirectCD]

Hi,
i've got the Philips CDD3610 and I use Adaptects incremental packet
writing driver for UDF called "Adaptec DirectCD 2.0a"
Now I replaced my old cd-r software Easy CD-Crearor by CeQuadrats
WinOnCD 3.5.
When both, WinOnCd and DirectCD, are installed the same time, my machine
doesn't boot any longer. Then I have to boot in save mode, uninstall one
of them, to make my windows95 work again.
But I need to use both of them!! I can't always un- / re-install the
programs depending on which cd is in the drive :-((
has anyone a hint for me?

i can tell you it works pretty fine on my machine with the philcdd2000.
configuration: win95 osr 2.1, adaptec 1505, the newest aspi layer v4.57, directcd v2.0a, adaptec cd creator v3.01b (cd copier produces frisbees).
try to check out the following:
as i recognized general errors running winoncd 3.5 (v3.50.277) parallel with any other cdr application, i looked what drivers wocd installs (cleansweep 4.0 log-file). then i simply moved them to the winoncd install directory. so the drivers only get loaded when there really needed and trouble's gone.
the files to move are:
in windows/system/iosubsys/ c2apix.vxd; c2rec.vxd and
in windows/system/ c2aspi.dll
move all to your winoncd install-dir.
it's a miracle to me why all (cdr)applications think they must put their shit all over my system and force it to suck sooner or later.

bist du sicher, dass er die treiber noch findet (und lädt), oder
vermisst er sie nur und läuft aber trotzdem?!
ich hatte diese treiber auch schon mal testhalber in ein tempor. vznis
verbannt, weil sie eines meiner anderen cd-laufwerke totmachen - danach
lief WinOnCD 3.5 trotzdem, nur nicht mehr stabil!!!

ja. ich bin mir (ziemlich) sicher.
1. hab ich es ausgetestet. die dateien die winoncd bzw die treiber-disk ins system schmeisst, sind für das programm gar nicht von bedeutung. sie sind ledeglich dafuer da, daß der brenner unter win95 als cd-rom angesprochen werden kann. eigentlich ja auch kein problem. da ich aber win95 osr2.1 benutze, der ja einen brenner-reader mitbringt (und mit fast allen gaengigen rekordern auch funktioniert), kann der c2-treiber ja eigentlich nur stoeren.
2. ist es bei nativen win32-anwendungen egal ob die dateien sich im system- oder im programm-verzeichnis liegen. das programm sucht zuerst im %windowsdir%system, dann im eigenen verzeichnis und dann noch im %system%root.
wuerde winoncd die dateien doch brauchen und -wie du ja ausprobiert hast- die dateien garnicht finden würde es unweigerlich zu einer fehlermeldung beim prog.-start kommen.
an deiner stelle wuerde ich mal den aspi-layer checken/updaten. adaptec bietet einen checker an. oder benutzt du etwa gar keinen adaptec-controller?!
bei mir hat letzens uebrigens eine frischzellenkur meiner registry einiges bewirkt:
ich konnte naemlich nach dem umstieg von meinem sony-scsi 4x laufwerk auf das (bestwogibt) plextor 12/20 ploetzlich mit winoncd kein cd-copy mehr machen. also hab ich zuerst nur winoncd neu drueberinstalliert - kein erfolg. dann hab ich es deinstalliert und wider neu - immer noch nicht. wocd deinst. und zusaetzlich mit regedit alle eintraege bezgl. wocd/cequadrat und aspi rausgeschmissen. dann neuboot, wocd neu installiert und - yeah das wars!
also wie so oft wenn logik nix mehr ausrichtet - einfach mal rumprobieren!
