yPP - yoda's Process Patcher

yPP Beta is just another Process Patcher engine but with some nice
features which make it different from other ones.
yPP Features:
o Add patchinfos/actions in a list and yPP will create a small win32
executable file.
o Create patchinfos using filecomparison.
o The loader can also do Search & Replace actions and it has a wait
before action timeout feature.

SafeDisc 2.0 & Alcatraz CD/DVD Copy Protection

Macrovision has announces it's next-generation SafeDisc CD-ROM Copy
Protection. SafeDisc 2.0 will arrive this September and it will be
available to publishers, developers and replicators.
A new CD/DVD Copy Protections has hit the streets. It is called
Alcatraz and it is being developed by KDG (Austria). It is a cross
between SecuROM, which is also based on a watermarking system and
SafeDisc, which also uses the executable wrapping system.
One funny thing which is mentioned is the Level 3b Protection, the
executable wrapper, is that they claim that the result of an "illegal"
start attempt will range from a simple warning message through to a
system crash and even right down to re-formatting of the disc drive!
For sure that they will never add this last "feature" as this will
result in a nice lawsuit whenever it is introduced in the US!!!
Also the CD Protections pages have undergone some major updating as
they were a bit outdated! Thanks BOT-CK for the help!

DAEMON Tools Update

GameFix has posted DAEMON Tools v1.5 from VeNoM386.
DAEMON Tools Updates:
o Included Virtual CDROM support. Allows mounting of images with
CUE-sheet as virtual CDROM drives!
o Full support for latest Securom version.
o The Addition of the new Virtual CDROM feature is a mayor improvement
for playing SafeDisc, SecuROM, LaserLock & LockBlocks protected
games from you harddisk.
o With the Virtual CDROM feature it is possible to make a CD-Image
using BlindRead, DiscDump or CDRWin. This CD-Image can then be
mounted as if it is a real (SCSI) CD-ROM. Now install the game from
this Virtual CD and it will work without the need for any No-CD
Patch or Fixed EXE. The protection emulation only needs to be
active when using the newer SecuROM protected games like Diablo 2.
The only disadvantage is that it will eat up an additional 650 MB for
the CD-Image but using the smallest possible installation will
decrease the used diskspace as the CD is always available!

Searching for Memory...

We have some difficulty with our main server which has not enough
memory, as it has to cater for about 200.000 daily visitors! We have
been using a second hand HP NetServer LH2 but we can't seem to find
memory for it... If anyone can supply us with an 128 MB ECC EDO 60 ns
DIMM (HP Partnr: D4297A) or equivalent which works in a LH2 we would
be very glad (we will ofcoz pay for it).
We are also looking for 2 empty hot-swap brackets for the LH2 to add
2 additional drives (server logging is a killer with about 100 MB per
day...)
