Don't throw away your corrupted DWG if you cannot fix it. Visit DWG Data
Recovery Services at http://www.intelcad.com . We are the only company in
the world fixing DWG files that cannot be recovered using any AutoCAD based
methods.

While on our web site, check our BLITZ! family of superfast standalone tools
for processing DWG files without AutoCAD. By using free evaluation version
of attribute extraction or xref re-path tool you will get the idea how well
we know the bits and bytes of DWG format.

Hi,

can you remove LDATA objects from R14 VitalLISp + VisualLISP and R15
VisualLISP from AutoCAD dwg files? If not, are you able to write such
application?

TIA

Sometimes Intellicad will open corrupted ACAD files. It's free
and available at www.cadopia.com.

Thanks, I already tested IntelliCAD 2000. It is definitely ok, and for
the money (0.00) it it really absolutely great! For professional work it
is not stable enough, and the drawings don't look exactly as they look
like in AutoCAD. I am missing clear visual distinguation between model-
and paperspace, I don't like the font handling (text and mtext in
IntelliCAD look totally different from AutoCAD), and for my special
purpose I am missing some of the "\" escape sequences in mtext (I am
using codes like "\A1;123,\C002;\H0.7x;\S45;" to create text entities
with superscripted millimeters in yellow which are 0.7 times as large as
the font used for meters.

And yes, it can open at least some drawings which AutoCAD can't, but
there is a handicap: it does not remove the LDATA objects which are
completely corrupt in AutoCAD 2000.

Thomas,

LDATA corruption is a quite popular bug among the drawings we receive. We
fix it as any other bug (this one at least gives 100% success rate). We
won't be providing commercial fixing tool any time in the near future, but
if you get in trouble with DWG you are welcome to use our repair service.

Regards,

If the drawing persists with problems, continue on to the next set of steps.

1. Ensure all layers are on, thawed, and unlocked.
2. Detach all external references (XREFs).
3. Write Block all necessary information in the file out to a new drawing (from the command line):

Type WBLOCK at the command line
Under Source, select "Objects"
Under Objects, click the "Select objects" icon
Use a selection window to choose only the necessary objects from the file (do not simply type ALL)
Set file path and name, then OK

4. Open a new blank drawing file.
5. Insert the file created in Step 3 (from the command line):
Type INSERT at the command line
Select the file
Uncheck "Specify On-screen" and check "Explode", then OK
6. Type PURGE at the command line. With all checkboxes checked on, click Purge All.
7. Audit and fix any errors.
8. Type SAVEAS and create a new file name.
