Ich habe Linux Mint 20 nochmal neu installieren müssen weil auf der
Suche nach einem passenden nvidia Treiber Mint nicht mehr gestartet ist.
Die Distribution verwendet inetd und entsprechend is leafnode
konfiguriert. In /etc/inetd.conf ist der Eintrag entsprechend angepaßt.

nntp stream tcp nowait news /usr/sbin/tcpd /etc/news/leafnode
root@linux ~# killall -HUP inetd
user@linux ~$ telnet localhost nntp
wolfgang@wolfgang-B:~$ telnet localhost nntp

Connected to localhost.

Connection closed by foreign host.
root@wolfgang-B:/home/wolfgang# fetchnews -vvv

Started process to update overview data in the background.
Network activity has finished.
funktioniert auch.
Wenn ich in der ~/.gnus.el
(setq gnus-select-method '(nntp "localhost"))
Gnus starte kommt diese Warnung.
