Trends:
* Philips Spark saw the greatest drop in its price since last month:
down from FIM 3450 to 2990. Very little changes in prices of other
handsets.
* A major forgery scam was reported in the last week of January.
Apparently thousands of GSM handsets have been distributed to
consumers during 1996 with forged IMEI handset identification
codes. The handsets, mostly Nokia 2110 type units, with forged
codes have originally been part of long term network service
contracts in another countries or they have been stolen. The
police has not yet revealed which retailers have had these
handsets on sale, but the Multivox chain has been mentioned in the
media. Its outlets are now closed.

* Handset prices are never tied to network contracts (or vice
versa).
* Free airtime is tied to a new contract, usually with Radiolinja.
* Some retailers such as Datafone have limited the number of
handsets they sell to each customer for the price advertised. The
number may be as low as one (1).
* Lowest publicly advertised prices from the established retailers
(above) are listed. Combination offers with extras are also
listed. No guarantee of these prices being valid at the time of
final publication - first week of the following month - is given.
Prices include VAT 22% and there is nothing added to them.
* If a popular handset is not listed here it has not been advertised
in newspapers or on television during this month.
