The School for Improvisational Music (SIM) will host its second series of
innovative and intensive workshops in New York City, August 6th through the
19th.

Established in January 2001 by a small group of visionary artist/educators, SIM
offers an apprenticeship
experience for emerging improvisers.

SIM’s week-long sessions are carefully planned but informally structured to
facilitate a healthy, stimulating
atmosphere for creative musical exploration. Modeled after the relaxed settings
in which improvising
musicians typically collaborate, SIM’s flexible environment enables students
both to focus intensely and
to interact freely with professionals drawn from New York City’s jazz and
creative music circles. Sessions
feature daily master classes by a variety of internationally acclaimed artists,
two private lessons per student
per week, numerous playing opportunities, and evening concerts that showcase
collaborations among
students and faculty.

For two weeks this summer, SIM’s students and faculty will come together to form
a unique artistic com-munity.
Developing musicians will take part in collective and individual artistic
discovery, with the guidance,
inspiration, and partnership of established musical innovators. Above all, at
SIM we cultivate the creative
process.

Please join us in Manhattan this August!

DATES: August 6–19

LOCATION: American Institute of Guitar, New York City
