Marx Bros./W.C. Fields Documentaries Re-Issued!

After being out of print for more than ten years, the highly regarded
documentaries, “The Marx Brothers In A Nutshell” and “W.C. Fields
Straight Up” have finally been remastered and reissued on home video. (The
DVDs should be available in time for the holidays.)

These documentaries (originally produced for PBS) had access to the entire Marx
and Fields libraries, so they include lengthy clips from all of their best
films, as well as rare footage, home movies and TV appearances (on the Marx
film) not seen elsewhere. They were also produced when many of the key
“witnesses” were still alive, so you’ll hear from writers, co-stars,
co-workers, friends and family.

(The Marx film even contains an exclusive interview with Woody Allen that had
to be cut prior to the initial broadcast. This is the first time it’s been
seen.)

The Marx film is narrated by Gene Kelly. The Fields film is narrated by Dudley
Moore. Both of these programs are considered the definitive documentaries on
their respective subjects. They provide great introductions for the newbies, as
well as a fresh fix for the diehard fans.
