new cygwin not recognize 'c:' syntax

I downloaded the newest cygwin load
and its got a few bugs that are driving me crazy.
1. New REAL ksh, I added pdksh as mosh etc have problems I cant circumvent
2. Kernel does not recognize "c:" syntax
must use /cygdrive/c which is a pain
3. Pgm "expect" usually does not execute
something about a tcl lib loaded in wrong place and hence cant be used

lots more but I'll hold that for now

Any ideas?
I was contemplating going back to an old load that is running quite well on
another machine I have.
