Finding What Works: Education for Students with Developmental Disabilities | Free information session and panel for people new to the DD system Hosted by the Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) Regional Councils | | May 21, 2026 from 6 to 8:15 p.m. | | |
Every student needs different things to succeed in the classroom! Learn how to navigate educational programs for students from early childhood education through kindergarten and up to age 22.
The IFSP's Regional Councils are proud to feature two guest presenters who will tell you about current programs in Virginia and how to find what works best! Our presenters are Tammy Burns, M.Ed. from the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) and Calypso Gilstrap from the Virginia Department of Education. Students and family members will also discuss their experiences collaborating with Virginia's school systems. You'll hear success stories and gain helpful strategies to help you and your student feel more confident when choosing an education plan!
