People on the DD Waivers Waiting List

We understand that finding the information you need is not always easy, but the Individual and Family Support Program (the IFSP) is here to help!
Each year, DBHDS sends this message to all individuals on the Waiting List ("the Waitlist") for the Home and Community-Based Services Developmental Disability Waivers (DD waivers).
In this email, you will find information about our "IFSP: First Steps" guide and other information that can help while you wait for a DD waiver. Watch this 1-minute video by The Arc of Virginia, then keep reading for more details and additional resources!

Later in August, the IFSP will make an official announcement on our email list with more detailed information about the upcoming IFSP-Funding Program. If you are not subscribed to our email list, it's not too late!
The IFSP-Funding Program expects to accept applications between the following dates:
Wednesday, October 1st through Thursday, October 30th
Reminder: To be eligible to apply for IFSP-Funding, individuals must be on the Virginia DD Waivers Waiting List, and be living in their own homes or in a family home.
We will also update the Funding page on our My Life, My Community website, so please be sure to check back there in September: https://mylifemycommunityvirginia.org/ifsp-funding

Each year, the IFSP asks individuals on the Waitlist and their families for their input. Your answers will help us improve the quality of our programs and tell us what's important to you. Please consider participating in our Annual Satisfaction Survey!

The Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) helps individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) and their families find supports and connect with others.
If you or a loved one has a developmental disability, is on the DD Waivers Waitlist, or has a DD waiver, then you may be eligible for the supports listed here. You can also find more resources on My Life, My Community!

The IFSP has one State Council and five Regional Councils. We are looking for new members in 2026!

- People on the Waitlist or their family members
- Anyone who wants to help others with developmental disabilities!
