Dear Members,

I work for a child-centric organization called SOciety for CHildren (SOCH), Bhuwaneshwar (Odisha). For me life has just restored 2 days back (after 7 Days of disrupted Electricity) with all the basic needs that I require to survive or you can say that we are even restored with the luxuries, It all became possible only for fortunate 10% of us who live in Capital City (Bhuwaneshwar), Although slum areas and locations with low priority in Bhuwaneshwar are still struggling for electricity supply to become normal.

To cut a long story short I am summarizing this Cyclone Fani as even worst as compared to the last strongest (Which happened in 1999). Thanks to the early alerts we have saved a huge number of people by evacuation of almost 11 Lakhs of people from Puri area. Needless to say, that puri is in even worse condition than Bhubaneswar, people are on streets and struggling to survive. Government can't alone handle such a huge natural disaster with its limited resources. Just to restore the basic needs in puri it will take months and for the trees, we have lost, will take decades.

Manoj (Director, SOCH) went on an extensive day-long  trip to many parts of cyclone-hit Puri district on Saturday (May 11th)

A few materials needed in high numbers

-Mosquito nets 

-Mosquito coils 

-Sanitary Pads

-Dry foods

-Educational books for children 

-Solar lights( small size, comes in 150/200 Rs)
