Poem: Yawning Will Not Do

[David Grieve]

The yawning gap between war and peace,

as thousands of the terrified grab belongings

and flee to the border.

Others are blown up in the burial chambers

of buildings until

the bodies are reached.

The sky is full of death.

Yawning will not do.

Our faces should be scarred

by tears and outrage.

But we feel as helpless as victims.
