Resurrection Life
Put off, put off, the former things that killed you.
Impossible to keep, the whole Law.
Put on, put on, the new thing that saves you,
the mighty Resurrection of Jesus,
the way of liberation, the new Exodus.
This is the Easter Offering,
God’s to you, ours to God,
which death can never touch
or take away.

Lightning and Light
Thou art lightning and light,
as Saul was struck down into faith,
and Augustine sweetly drawn into discovery.
My own heart needs both
the sudden charged burst
and the dawning day of enlightenment,
to turn my heart away from sin
and my face to your conquering love.
Here in Easter I tremble before my Lord King,
and fall into his arms that once hung lifeless.
but now welcome even me
into the light of eternity.
