Magna Carta in Durham

People had so much to say about Magna Carta 800

when words came streaming

down from the pillars at

the West End of the Cathedral.

Visitors were excited to be covered by them on their way

to the floor.

Huge banners told the history

and the Museum displayed precious documents.

How valuable to celebrate democratic freedoms

when law and rights are so flagrantly ignored.

Surely one day there will be justice for all.
