TFC. or Temp File Cleaner, is a small utility that will clean out all the folders on your computer that house temporary files. The temp folders that TFC will clean are the Java, Windows Temp Folder, and the Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome, and Safari caches. This tool will clean the folders for all accounts on the computer including the Administrator, NetworkService, and LocalService accounts.
JRT removes Temp. files that are left by my other cleaners. I would appreciate having this ability added to one of your remaining products. I used JRT long before your company acquired it, and will miss its capabilities. I purchased MBAM years ago and I have downloaded AdwCleaner, either would be acceptable for this addition. Thank you.
So if you're using a newer OS, I'd recommend using something like CCleaner portable. While not exactly as lightweight, it should do the job (I actually used both in the past when I was a tech as I often found one would remove some temp/junk items the other would not).
Hello Spiceworks community, I am hoping someone with greater scripting knowledge than I has built a script to delete temp files in the fashion that TFC by Oldtimer used to. While this program does still work on windows 10, he stopped developing it years ago and I hesitate to use it going forward. This has been indispensable in saving time clearing out garbage files from system that see many users. We like for them to be able to save temp filesut typically we try and run through once a year and give all the user profiles a fresh start. TFC did a great job of this as well as getting a lot of other junk. We also have a big bulk of systems with low storage capabilities and once you get 60-80+ users logged into a system, stuff fills up.
You know I was trying to uninstall a program the other day.. and I installed REVO uninstaller and I noticed it had many utilities. Under tools it had a junk file cleaner and it found a ton of files under EDGE Browser hidden folders.. which TFC never looked at. Maybe it is useable.. It looks pretty good.
I have used other cleaners, but they all reaquire a bit more input and technically we don't fall under the license agreement. TFC was awesome because you could write a batch script to start it and then you just had to manually click one button and you were off. I could clear a lab of 30 systems pretty fast.
TFC is incredibly easy and fast to use. there are no weird settings to configure. All you do is save all your work and close all your programs like MS Office, Notepad, etc before you begin. When all work is saved and programs are closed on your desktop. Press the Start button on TFC to start the disk cleanup. Your desktop and all the programs on your computer will be closed during the disk cleanup task in Temp File Cleaner, so it can clean your Temp files. For me TFC just takes a few seconds to clean my temp files, but it could take longer for you. When done, you might need to restart your computer. If you do not need to restart your computer, your desktop will be restored. However, you might need to restart your antivirus, antimalware, antispyware and firewall software if you are using a third party firewall program like Comodo instead of Windows default firewall. TFC only cleans out your temp folders; however, it will not clean out your URL history, prefetch, or cookies. It also does not clean your registry, so you do not risk damaging your registry or Windows operating system when you run TFC unlike other disk clean up utilities which have registry cleaners which can potentially break Windows or software installed on your PC if the registry cleaner deletes a important registry key.
