Few days back  few members had raised issue about the adding the name of husband / wife as co-allottee.

My allotment is in the name wife and  want to add the name of husband as co-allottee

I went to DDA to find out the ways to add the Husband name.  I met Director Housing II, at DDA today ( available between 2.30 to 4.30PM on Mon and Thur) and asked about the documents required for adding the name of Husband.  According to Director Housing II, there is no provision to add the name of Husband / wife, in this scheme (DDA 2010).  When I informed that their Web site allows to add the name of Husband / wife as co-allottee, he specifically told that this scheme has no such provision.

I again verified this fact from the "Agents" sitting outside & they also confirmed that there is no such provision for "DDA 2010" allotment.

Now I want to know whether there is any provision to add the name Husband/ wife as co- allottee in this scheme.  My intention is to get the income tax rebate for husband / wife as also obtaining  Loan in the name of both.

Please let me know as to how I should proceed now.

I have already submitted my papers related to "Verification" last week and I have obtained receipt.

Hi Kurian,

For getting the home loan (and further tax benefit) there is no essential requirement from any bank to have name in coallottee. All banks allows husband /wife to become coapplicant in the home loans.

Checked with almost all the banks.

Yes, no problem in taking loan, just to get tax benefits on home loan
interest you need to be owner.

Here, the owner will be wife.  Allotment will be in the name of wife.  Will they recognise Husband as owner?

In fact, both had applied separately. But wife only got the chance

I also have the same problem, got allotment in wife's name. But in
this case if DDA won't allow adding name, husband will not be
considered as owner and will not get any tax benefit.

Hi Samir,

Banks will allow spouse to be co-borrower, but IT dept won't allow you
to take tax benefit on property owned by spouse...............:(

ok.. this is a bit odd. when I submitted my verification documents I also submitted the application and affidavit to add my wife's name and the person took the documents. He didn't say it was not possible to add spouse's name in this scheme. I think Sandeep also submitted the co-allottee documents. Sandeep correct me if I am wrong!

Yes, I inquired there at the help-desk and when he confirmed that I
can submit application before actually getting the allotment letter, I
got the affidavit and submitted it. And the clerk accepted it too
without mentioning whether it is possible or not. So not sure why
different DDA people are giving different information. I can only
think of waiting till I get the allotment letter for clear picture.

I went today for verification and the guy across the counter  who was taking documents told me that they are not accepting documents for co-allottee right now. (Meaning they will accept later on!)

Hi,

Apart from the tax benefit, having your wife's name as co-owner also entitles one for saving 1% of cost of flat on Stamp Duty. This would be big enough reason for VK HIG flat owners at least!

So finally what is the truth. Shall we apply for co-allotment or not?

Not sure, conflicting information are coming till now, some say yes,
and some no. Even DDA officials are divided on this, only thing can do
is wait for allotment letter. Or still if DDA is accepting, submit the
form.
