**How We Say Yes: Consent and Communication for Kinksters w/ @Pravda_Lara**

Consent is a critical issue for any practitioner of BDSM. Consent is the difference between a scene being pleasurable play and being unethical, criminal violence. Creating a safe community for all participants is critical to our well being as kinksters. But not everyone feels comfortable starting conversations about consent. Misconceptions and myths run rampant in our society, and these are barriers to unlocking safe, mutually-pleasurable, and joyful intimacy. This workshop is designed to build up your consent toolkit and give you the skills you need to negotiate consent for both sexual and non-sexual play. You will also learn more about how you can contribute to creating a safer, more positive community by holding other scene members accountable to a standard of safe, sane, consensual play.

First Time With Us?

Never fear! Our regulars are friendly (and very used to newbies), and you probably won't be the only newbie there! 7:30pm is a great time to arrive, as more people will be around by then. If you're worried about rules, maybe [read them ahead of time][https://fetlife.com/groups/1729/group_posts/5030966]? Or just ask somebody when you arrive. Nothing else is required of you but an open mind.

Age Limit?

All ages are welcome, 18+. The crowd does run younger, as we are a TNG event: "The Next Generation" of Kinksters. Here’s a little info about what that means to us.

Why Isn't This Free?

Our venue is extremely awesome and kink-friendly, but they need to make it worth their while too! Everyone pays $5 at the door for a $5 ticket. That ticket is good toward the appetizers or a drink at the bar. We hope it's not too much to ask, as a happy venue makes for happy kinksters! :-)

Parking and Public Transportation Info:

* Metro (best bet): Nearest Metro Station is Dupont Circle (Red Line)

* Driving: Limited street parking is available (most meters turn off at 6:30pm, but check for sporadic later meters).
