Dear Donna - My name is Heather Kimmel and I am the current president of DCSTFI. Alison Laffan forwarded your message to me regarding adding the California fellows to our membership. I was on the DCSTFI board last year and I was part of the discussions regarding the fellows' coverage. I do apologize for the long delay - we had some other issues that we had to resolve before we could move forward.

We will discuss this with the current board to determine the best way forward in helping you to provide coverage for these fellows. Unfortunately, I do not have the details that you had given Alison in the past, so if you could answer a few questions, that would be helpful.
1. How many fellows do you anticipate needing coverage?
2. How long is the fellowship program? We would be able to provide coverage for the duration of their fellowship, but not prior or after this time. Is that reasonable?
3. We'd talked last year about having someone from your organization be the payee for the group's coverage, rather than us collecting the premiums from each individual. Does that still fit with your proposed structure?

Are there other questions that you have for us?

Thank you very much!

Sincerely yours,
Heather L. Kimmel, PhD
President, DCSTFI

Alison,

This question has come up again, so I thought I would contact you for an update.

We are still interested in the option of adding our Fellows to your medical policy.

I'm available to discuss the options and opportunities.  Please let me know when would be a good time to talk.

Donna King

Alison,

Lora Lee has been out for several weeks on medical leave.

In her absence, I just wanted to follow up on the possibility of adding our S&T Fellows to your medical policy.

Are things still on schedule for possibly November 1st? Do you have any idea about the cost and policy options?

Donna

That would be great!  We'd want to let our Fellows know as soon as we can so they don't commit to another plan (very expensive) in advance....is there information about the plans that we could be reviewing anticipating they are allowable?

L

Donna - I apologize for the long delay in replying. We are continuing to work on changing our organization's by-laws to be able to accommodate the California fellows. We are getting ready to put the changes to a vote to our membership, so I hope to have some updates within the next few weeks. Thank you very much for your patience and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely yours,
Heather Kimmel

Heather,

Our Fellows would need 12 months coverage - at most 10 Fellows per year.  Our cycle runs November 1 through October 31st.

It is fine if coverage only covers the period of their Fellowship.

It would not be a problem for CCST to pay for the premiums.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Donna
