Job Description:
We have an urgent need for a genuinely senior, hands-on AWS Cloud / Python Developer to join the Nemesis Data Integrations (NDI) team. Please use the requirements below as screening criteria so that we receive candidates who can operate effectively at the senior-engineer level from the outset.
NDI is an AWS-native, serverless, distributed data pipeline platform that delivers Multifamily structured and unstructured data to Palantir/Foundry. The platform manages 75+ datasets through config-driven pipelines and uses Python, Pandas, AWS Lambda, AWS Glue/PySpark, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift, Terraform Cloud, and GitLab CI/CD.
What We Need:
We are looking for a Senior AWS Cloud / Python Developer who is an experienced hands-on engineer—not merely someone who can take on various programing tasks. The candidate must be able to independently analyze problems, make sound technical decisions, design solutions, write production-quality code, troubleshoot complex distributed workflows, and take accountability for delivery and quality across the end-to-end stack as part of the overall team.
Required experience:
• Strong, hands-on Python development experience building production-grade applications and data-processing pipelines.
• Significant hands-on AWS Glue experience is required, including development and troubleshooting of Glue ETL jobs using PySpark. General AWS experience without meaningful Glue development experience is not sufficient.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS serverless/event-driven services, particularly Lambda, Step Functions, S3, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, and DynamoDB.
• Experience designing, developing, debugging, and supporting distributed and/or parallel data-processing workflows.
• Strong experience with Pandas/DataFrames, data transformation, reconciliation, and data-quality processing.
• Working knowledge of Redshift/SQL and data integration patterns.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, preferably Terraform and GitLab.
• Ability to understand an existing enterprise platform quickly, work within established architecture and patterns, and become productive with limited guidance.
• Strong engineering judgment and demonstrated ownership of solutions from design and implementation through testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with the team while also being capable of working and delivering independently.
Candidate Profile / Screening Expectations:
Please prioritize candidates who can demonstrate that they have personally designed and coded comparable AWS/Python solutions. We need engineers who can explain technical decisions they made, problems they encountered, how they diagnosed them, and how they implemented and supported the resulting solution.
Candidates whose experience is primarily coordinating work, following detailed implementation instructions, or providing high-level AWS architecture without substantial recent hands-on coding are not a fit for this role.
Nice to have: Prior Fannie Mae experience and/or experience building and supporting large-scale distributed enterprise data-processing systems. This experience is preferred but should not exclude an otherwise strong candidate.
Given the immediate need, AWS Glue/PySpark + strong Python + hands-on AWS serverless engineering should be the primary screening combination. Please validate these areas before submitting candidates to the team.
