Hello all, I won’t be at the meeting tonight. Phuong will be representing me. I got rear-ended and suffered a mild concussion. My doctor asked me to rest.

I believe many of us may have heard about this news and others in the past. Lately we have seen an uptick in violent crimes (homicide up by 36%) in city and it may be good idea to hear about the initiatives the Mayor's office and MPD in particular has taken to increase public safety and prevent crimes, and capture and prosecute suspects. And about the community policing initiatives and outreaches to build trust between community and police department, and actual police presence in many parts of the city.
With respect to surveillance, in many incidents it appears the street cameras are not there and/or of not good quality to capture the visual of the suspects.
Also we have no or little street cameras to capture speeding vehicles, running red-lights etc. In fact, I had mentioned about these issues to Councilman Brandon Todd at an event.
Wondering what Chair Tinpe, Director Do and Members of the commission see how we raise our serious concern.
Perhaps an advocacy letter from Chair and the Commission to the Mayor's office, MPD, and cc to Mayor's Office on AAPI Affairs and other relevant agencies.
Would love to hear other's ideas and thoughts.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Niranjan Adhikari
Thank you, John.
Will certainly get in touch with ANC Chair and attend neighborhood meeting too. Thank you.
In case any of you also like to join. Thanks.
