Commission -

As you may have heard, I received a promotion from Mayor Bowser to head the Department of For-Hire Vehicles. This opportunity brings on exciting challenges as I work to continue the successes of the agency. I am also excited to bring on new ideas that will make our agency responsive to our drivers, operators, and for-hire industry while balancing safety and accessibility concerns for our residents and visitors.

In the last four years as Director of the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA) I have been so proud to work with all of you. You have been instrumental on my success. I am particularly proud of bringing innovative new ideas including façade and technical business assistance to our small businesses, reinventing Chinatown Park into a community asset, and bringing on new programs and events that our residents have come to love. None of these successes could have happened without your continued support and dedication to the mission of MOAPIA.

As I transition into my new role I know that you are in good hands with Director Ben de Guzman. He comes from a long background of community advocacy and leadership. He has been an instrumental colleague and community member during my tenure with MOAPIA. Please congratulate him when you have a chance!

If you need anything – please do not hesitate to write.

Warm Regards,

David Do
